Recent Advances:
Early identification and treatment of RA with Disease Modifying Anti- Rheumatoid Drugs (DMARDs) is crucial. Early aggressive treatment with DMARDs and/or biologic agents is associated with decreased progression of synovitis and bone erosions, and with decreased disability.
Recent Advances:
NSAIDs are also sometimes helpful in decreasing pain until DMARDs take effect. It is important to note however that these drugs alone do not change the course of the disease of rheumatoid arthritis or prevent joint destruction.
